Herd Sire
B C C Retail Product 558
He is stout, athletic, easy fleshing, and moderate-small framed. He has the carcass
numbers, growth, and eye-appeal to compete with the best. He had an Adj YW of
1400lbs and Adj WW of 838lbs. His first calves arrived in the fall of 2007 and they look
amazing. This is the best calf crop we have ever had and are anticipating great things
from this herd sire.
Selection Philosophy
We are strong believers in EPDs, but do not select for just one trait. We use multi-trait
bulls that offer an overall good package. We also recognize that EPDs do not measure
everything like udder quality and the ability to rebreed every year. Every cow is mated to
a bull that will compliment her and produce an ultimate bull or heifer. We understand
what we are producing, BEEF, and we breed our cows to produce good tasting meat.
Growth is good, but if the meat doesn't taste good then all you have is a lot of a bad
product. There is a lot of cattle that aren't bred for good carcasses. I think these
producers forget what we are really producing, a good BEEF product. Having a live calf
that grows and produces a good carcass should be the goal of every beef producer.
With good selection of proven AI sires we can achieve our goals to produce a good
carcass, low birth weight, good fleshing ability
